I would like to request the following information as a freedom of information request. If possible please provide the data as an Excel. By public litter bin I mean a bin provided by the council for the public to put their rubbish in, on the street/park etc. 1. How many public litter bins has your council provided for each of the years 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024? 2. How often have each of your public bins been emptied for each of the years, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024? 3. How many complaints have you received related to public litter bins for each of the years 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024? And if possible, broken down by topic of complaint e.g. not enough bins, overflowing bins. 4. What was the cost to your council to provide, maintain, and empty public bins for each of the years 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024?

1.      How many public litter bins has your council provided for each of the years 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024?

 

1,300 streets and parks public litter bins in 2024. Unable to to provide detail for prior years as information is not available.

 

2.     How often have each of your public bins been emptied for each of the years, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024?

 

All public street litter bins are scheduled to be emptied daily. Litter bins in main parks are also emptied daily. Smaller parks have variable frequencies dependent on use.

 

3.     How many complaints have you received related to public litter bins for each of the years 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024? And if possible, broken down by topic of complaint e.g. not enough bins, overflowing bins.

 

2 formal complaints relating to public litter bins have been recorded between 2020 and 2024.

4.     What was the cost to your council to provide, maintain, and empty public bins for each of the years 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024?

 

Unable to accurately segregate costs associated with providing, maintaining and emptying of public litter bins and the activity is split between other variable functions within our staff's remit of work.
